I have been watching the Olympics. Well, tonight was the Women's Figure Skating short programs. Sasha Cohen was AMAZING! Dick Button was his usual self. He cannot find a nice thing to say. Even his nice things are shrouded in negativity. Whew! He so needs to retire. At one point he made an awful remark about one of the skaters and then paused and said " I hope that doesn't sound unkind." ummm....if you had to add that statement then it was probably unkind. Dick, it is time to retire the commentary. These skaters are doing things that you never did back in your day. Your reign has been long but it is time to pass on the crown. Okay, enough of that.
Leesha update:
Same ole Leesha. She changed her clothes about 5 times today. I finally put a stop to that and told her to go change into her jammies because she was done changing clothes for today. You can't use laundry as a punishment cause she thinks that is just so fun. She sewed her bear today. Mommy had to help quite a bit but not as much as I helped on the heart. She is really getting the hang of it. I will have to look for more sewing projects for her.
Oh, Leesha and I were sitting at the table together this afternoon talking about all kinds of things while she was sewing and I was working on some frames I am making. She explained to me that sometime this week she was going to be breaking her leg. ummmmm......ok! I then asked her why she would do that. She then went on to tell me that when she did break her leg that I was to take her to Riley cause they would help make it all better.
I had so many things going through my mind at this moment. My child plans to cause major harm to herself. Whose child does that? What have I done to this child to make her want to break her own leg? What kind of things do I need to get rid of in this house that she can use to break her leg? Where is that bubble wrap, I could wrap her in it and then she could try all she wanted but she wouldn't succeed. Oh but then I would be showing I didn't want her to succeed at the goals she had set for herself. LOL!!
Everything was silent for a moment and then I asked "Leesha, why would you want to break your leg?" This was the answer I got sooooooo not the answer I was expecting. "Well, Mom, I really miss my Daddy and wish he could be home with us all the time. If I break my leg, and get put in Riley, he would have to come and spend all day with me cause I would be in the hospital. Daddy always comes whenever I need him so I would definitely need him if I broke my leg." The logic of a 5 year old.
Yes, I explained that she didn't have to break a leg to get Daddy's attention and love. I also explained that breaking your leg doesn't always merit a hospital stay. LOL! So I have put away the bubble wrap and we have set different goals for her this week. Daddy and her spent lots of time together tonight and life is good.
Brian was totally flabberghasted when I told him of the incident and we had a good laugh about it. I think I may have actually heard him say as I was leaving the room, "She is definitely your child." ummm...dear....She is your child also. I didn't have this imagination when I was a child that was totally yours. ;)
BIG accomplishment for me today: I have finally decided what curriculum we will be using for Leesha's kindergarten year. WOOHOOO!! I can't wait to start ordering it. I also wrote a review tonight for ScrapFriends. I have another review to write tomorrow but that won't take me long at all.
Good night All!
