Nothing like a little music to get you in the Christmas Spirit!!
Today Memaw and Papa Thacker come over to watch Leesha for me so I could go grocery shopping. Honestly, all I was thinking about when I pulled into my parking space was getting in there and getting my shopping done and getting back home. So I was in a hurry and my mind was elsewhere. As I was getting out of my car, I heard this beautiful Christmas music. It is all instrumental. I was packed in the back forty so I really couldn't see where it was coming from until I got closer. As I walked closer, I realized it was from three men who were attending to the Salvation Army bucket. Two were playing trumpets and one was playing a trombone. Let me just say, I stood there in the cold and listened to them play three different songs. It was so incredibly beautiful. After a while, it wasn't about the hurry up and get things done, the sick child, or even the freezing cold. It was all about the reason for the season. They played Away in a Manger, Silent Night, and O Come, O Come Emmaneul. As I stood there and listened, I remembered what this Season was all about. Jesus! I stood there listening with tears pouring down my face thanking God for the blessings in my life. As the strains of O Come O Come Emmanuel softly went away, I walked up to thank them but there were no words. I was finally able to say Thank you and they just smiled and said Your Welcome. Many people just hurried on by but there were many who stopped to listen and smile and remember the reason for this wonderful season. This is what Christmas is to me! It isn't about the presents, the lights, or cards. It is about Christ! O Come O Come Emmanuel and Come quickly!
